What Community Development training with a Personal Debrief looks like

17 - 29 August 2014

This 12-day retreat is specially designed for field workers desiring input in both community development principles and to have a personal debrief of their past experiences.

We seek to provide a highly interactive training opportunity for those who purpose to invest long-term to promote life-giving solutions to life-threatening problems. Our desire is to especially equip those who are already working on the field, but are in need of fresh input so they may face the challenges of bringing the gospel to poverty-stricken communities or people groups.

Key Topics

All staff and trainers are experienced field workers who have also faced similar difficulties and questions as they have sought to disciple communities into God's full potential for them.

Debriefing and counseling are provided from a Christian, Biblically-based world view by pastoral care workers trained in debriefing and counseling skills. Prayer ministry is normally a part of this process, with the consent of those participating and includes time for personal reflection, meditation and prayer. There will be plenary sessions for worship, teaching and general feedback. Your sessions with a debriefer will be on your own unless you have come with a team or as a couple.

It is best to plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon, 17 August, and to leave Friday afternoon after 2:00, 29 August. The retreat will end with a meal at noon on Friday, so if possible, please plan your flights accordingly. (We are 20 minutes from the airport.) Details on local hotels are available upon request should you wish to stay in the area longer.

There will be several fun outings included in the program to take advantage of the beautiful location and great weather normally experienced in August.

Due to staffing constraints, we are unfortunately unable to offer child-care during this program.

Supervision, training and confidentiality are managed according to guidelines of the Association of Christian Counselors (ACC) U.K. We are also affiliated with Member Care Europe.
